SLOWLY, WE BUILD A MOSAIC OF BLACK AND WHITE PICTURES OF EMPLOYEES, REPS, PEOPLE, PRODUCTS AND BUILDINGS FROM THE EARLY 1900's.
MUSIC: TENDER NOSTALGIA
NARRATOR Their voices are quite, now. And the products and services they created and sold have been replaced or changed.
But they still speak to us in ways that require no words. Our laboratories, our buildings, our research and, yes, our reputation are all a part of their eloquent legacy.
Whatever dreams and hopes each of them had, let there be no misundertanding. These...are portraits of pride. People who have altered, forever, our personal and professional destinies.
And, within each of these, there is a fragment of our future that deserves more from us than just a crumbling photo album...
...or, a condescending comment about the quaint and colorful "good old days."
And, what about that past? Was it really that different?
Was it, perhaps, more challenging then? Because so few had so much to do that had never been done before?
Was there a special excitement and enthusiasm when you're part of something that's just beginning?
A feeling that becomes a little tired and cynical when you inherit success?
And let me ask you this. How do you measure your success?
By the size of your house?
Your car?
Your office?
Maybe you do. But is that really the sum and substance of your worth as a human being? Or your value to this company. Is that really what your pride and promise is all about?
Or, is it possible that each of you here, today, has values and visions that can never really be measured at all.
MUSIC: CHANGE FOR CLOSING
Yes, there is still much to be done that has never been done before.
And all of us are still a part of something that's just beginning.
But if, in fact, we are able to stride further into the future than those who came before us...
...we will do so only because we stand on the shoulders of giants.
